Fun surprise to see my photos featured in Gardenista this morning.
Just Beautiful "The Forty Part Motet (2001), a sound installation by Janet Cardiff (Canadian, born 1957), will be the first presentation of contemporary art at The Cloisters. Regarded as the artist's masterwork, and consisting of forty high-fidelity speakers positioned on stands in a large oval configuration throughout the Fuentidueña Chapel, the fourteen-minute work, with a three-minute spoken interlude, will continuously play an eleven-minute reworking of the forty-part motet Spem in alium numquam habui (1556?/1573?) by Tudor composer Thomas Tallis (ca. 1505–1585)."
I find this blog post by The Sifter fascinating, take a look. The photographs are beautifully composed and quite striking.
"The Sifter recently stumbled upon an incredible collection of vintage mugshots housed by the Historic Houses Trust. Many of these intriguing photographs are also accompanied by a description of the person and the crime(s) they have committed. For example, the image above of Mr. William Stanley Moore was taken May 1st, 1925. The caption describes him as: an opium dealer operating with large quantities of faked opium and cocaine. Also a wharf labourer and associates with water front thieves and drug traders."
Sweepings collected in this dustpan designed by Jan Kochański can be disposed of through a funnel in its handle.
"Most of dustpans sold are a design of low esthetic value." Jan Kochanski
A newspaper piece I designed for an Installation at the Gardner Museum. If you can, go see the installation and pick one up. Thanks for looking.
Cute. I wish I had thought of this.
A blog featuring stills from films and their corresponding color palettes. Nice concept.
I want to do this with my Flower Porn. Fabulous!
